the Community Bridge Project
Small organizations, businesses and non-profits, carry the lion's share of social, economic, and environmental justice work.
These organizations make up the fabric of our communities. They are traditionally underfunded, and typically have a difficult time affording technology infrastructure (websites, databases, social networking tools).
In the changing climate of our economy, not being able to mobilize these tools makes these organizations (and as a result our communities) vulnerable.
The Community Bridge Project is a group of individuals and organizations joining forces to create the next generation of software that will enable organizations to easily create complex and comprehensive website/database/social media solutions with tools that a 6th grader can understand.
The organizing idea behind this collaboration is that there is no need to re-invent the wheel every time an organization needs a website. If technologists, foundations and organizations come together, we can build tools that will put the power of creating inexpensive websites, social networks and information systems into the hands of the organizations that need them most.
