What is MetaMedic?
MetaMedic is a tool that patients with a difficult medical history or set of symptoms can use with their doctors to simplify medical troubleshooting and communicate laboratory results and other patient/doctor research.
Of course, there is a backstory.
In 2017 I was living in Mexico and had to have 3 MAJOR abdominal surgeries in the space of 4 months.
As is often the case, recovering from such an ordeal can take some focus. Part of this focus requires an accurate picture of the evolution of your medical process, and the ability to communicate that to your doctor in a way that is actionable.
At that point I had a stack of lab results about 3 inches high.
How do you communicate a 3 inch stack of laboratory and other reports? And even if your doctor had the time (which they do not) I do not think it is humanly possible for that kind of analysis to happen.
So I started thinking of ways to get them quickly up to date, and allow them to explore my medical history in a way where they could easily explore interactively.
I built it, and since that point I have had two different doctors tell me that I literally saved my own life.
While I was at it, I also wanted to be able to interpret the results visually both for myself and for my doctors.
The problem (for me) is that everything is in x amount of ml/L or whatever, and every blood test is on a different scale. And so I wanted a tool that would calculate a 'Normalized' value for all the tests and when a bunch of different kinds of tests are shown together, I wanted to see all of the values on a scale between 0 and 1. Easy peasy.

Pictures say it all, and so I want to show you what it looks like when someone with a complicated medical history shows their labs to their doctors. The system is set up to compare tests in basically two ways.
By Lab Date
Here are some examples of what you would see on the main view of your labs that are sorted by date.
When you click on a lab date, you will be taken to the main page for those labs with a graph representation for easy understanding:
As well as places for you to speak with your doctor:
By Test
The tests can also be accessed to see data markers for the patient tied to a particular test.

You would begin on the overlook page:
And then click further to see the data markers for a particular test.
